Rucker, L. (1992) "Peacemaking in Prisons"

Uploaded at: 2010. 03. 01.

in H. Pepinsky and R. Quinney (eds.) Criminology as Peacemaking, Bloomington, University of Indiana Press, 172-180.

The thought of translating such percepts as compassion, care, loving-kindness, and even forgiveness into an actual administrative strategy within the criminal justice system, say, the "correctional bureaucracy", can bring tingles of excitement if we allow ourselves to conjure up images of transforming correctional centers into healing centers. With this idea in mind, the author describes following topics: 1. The Alternatives to Violence Project, Inc. in Greenhaven Prison in New York state; 2. The view from the Circle; 3. The Process; 4. So, What's the big deal?
