Question of the week

How much do you agree with imprisoning offenders for theft offences?
Very much - prison is an effective response to theft offences.
Somewhat - imprisonment might have short-term positive effects, but doesn't solve the problem on the long run.
Not at all - with mass imprisonment we just make this problem more serious, reintegration of offenders become even more difficult, not to mention the high costs of prisons that need to be paid by the citizens.

This might give a chance for convicts to participate in restorative programmes, should they be organized int he future. In connection with this subject,  dr. Barabás A. Tünde briefed the patrticipants of the session about the MEREPS Project, introduced its planned key elements, and summarized the findings of the study tour that took place 2009. november 8-14.
